One of the primary purposes of a Public State Bank would be to lower the cost of rebuilding our State’s infrastructure – including everything from schools to roads – by financing these projects with our own Public bank instead of paying billions of dollars in interest to Wall Street mega banks. The State legislature is currently conducting public hearings on how to move this process forward. The first Committee meeting, chaired by Representative Bob Hasegawa, was held on August 22, 2011 in Olympia. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, listen to committee members and give public comments on the direction and structure of a Public Investment Bank.
